I only came across this tool by accident this weekend as I was struggling with a selection. I went back to the PS Course, and looked through the Cheat Sheets to see if I had just missed it, but as far as I could see I don’t think I have.
Would it be possible for you to do a demo video of how to use it correctly, or is this another one of those best avoided tools?
PS Making slow but steady progress with the LR Course – just have to stop my Mac engineer from trying to get me to keep all my photos on my HDD. If I wanted to do that I’d use the icon on the toolbar, but I’d far rather have them on an external HDD and backup as you suggested. (Don’t think I’ll be needing the 8TB drives, though! 😀 )
Hi Tony – I mention it when I talk about Masking, but it’s one of those tools that you really shouldn’t use if you’re going to try to develop a good PS workflow.
Layer Masking is the preferred way to erase part of a layer, rather than permanently with the Erase tool.
