It’s Not About Sliders!
“For me… It’s not about the sliders. Instead, it’s all about WHAT you do with the sliders”
This course is very different from my other courses. In many of the courses I have, I teach about the “how” to accomplish a task, or “what” a certain slider or setting does.
But in this course I open up and do something TOTALLY different. I talk about the “WHY” behind my editing.
For me… It’s not about the sliders. Instead, it’s all about what you do with those sliders that’s the most important part of editing.
How dark should you make something? How bright should you make it? Where do I add light? These are all the questions I work through with each photo. You’ll watch and hear my thoughts as I make the edits and why I’m making them.

I’ve watched all the videos in the new course and have been thoroughly enjoying it. You said the course is for advanced beginners. I consider myself fairly expert in Lightroom, but I’ve been getting so much out of the course. I don’t think it matters how skilled you are with the tool. It’s more about a new way to analyze your photos to figure out the best way to edit them. I’ve already tried the techniques on some photos I took yesterday and I’m really pleased with the results. Thanks!
Reviews
From Volume 1 and 2
I purchased this course this afternoon and am already half way through. You weren’t kidding. Easy to watch. Easy to follow. And I’m seeing results in my own photos immediately. Great course Matt!
Another course well done, well written and well presented. This one really spoke to me. I now “understand” why you made the changes. And I feel confident about “how” to make these changes. Keep up the good work.
I love this course. I have already learned so much about making my photos “shine”. I’m watching them all one more time, then I’ll start working on my own ones. Thank you!
Yes! Thank-you! I know how to use my camera, LR, and PS but sometimes just stare at my landscape work thinking “how do I make this so people will see what I actually saw?” I have a hard time knowing where to begin, and, even worse, when to be done. This course is exactly what I have been needing. Thanks for being such an authentic, intuitive, and KIND teacher. You always explain things in a way that makes sense to me. I so appreciate you!
In my 89 years I’ve never once paid for a course or even a texture. Never had the money for these treats. But your comments about this course and how you came to do it really resonated with me. It sounded like exactly what I needed and so I took the plunge and I’m GLAD I DID. Thank you so much Matt. You’re a wonderful
teacher and I’m so glad I found you.
From Flat to Fantastic!

Learn the "WHY" In Photo Editing
So many tutorials (me included) just show the what and how of editing. But sometimes you want to learn about “Why” I chose a certain edit.
It's Not About the Sliders!
One of the best things about this course is I don’t talk tech. Instead I talk about the creative part of editing and how I evaluate a photo.
The Most Important Tools
If you’re curious about what the most important tools are and what you’ll need to know then check out this quick video and I’ll explain.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE IN VOLUME 2 VS VOLUME 1?
First, you can always click here to watch a quick 3 minute video where I explain this better than I can write it.
I know I’m getting this question a lot so let me explain with a question back at you. How do you get better at photography? Do you sit at home learning your buttons and dials, or do you go out and shoot and actually… well… do it.
To me, it’s actually a combination of both. I think there’s a lot of merit to grabbing your camera manual and studying your buttons and dials.
But in addition to that, you have to use them. You have to get out and shoot and put yourself in as many varying shooting situations as possible.
Getting better at photo editing is similar. You have to study what the sliders do, and I think there’s plenty of courses out there that do just that.
But I created No Light No Problem to help teach more of the “why” behind the sliders and editing. Why make this area brighter or this area darker, or crop here, or open the shadows here, or add some light to this area of the photo.
For me, this process never stops. Me showing you 7 photo edits in Volume 1 doesn’t cover the entire spectrum of editing possibilites.
IS THE ADOBE VERSION THE SAME AS THE ON1 VERSION?
Yes, these courses use the same photos and techniques. One course does everything using Adobe (Lightroom and Photoshop). While the other course does everything using ON1 Photo Raw 2020. You get them both as part of your purchase so you don’t have to decide.
IS THIS A LIGHTROOM OR PHOTOSHOP COURSE?
The LR/PS version of this course is mostly done in Lightroom. Everything I do in Lightroom could also be done in Photoshop’s Camera Raw dialog. They are EXACTLY the same. In the intro video, I show you where to find the same tools and that they work exactly the same. There are a few lessons where I jump to Photoshop for a sky replacement, or some Content Aware Healing, but that’s about it.
WHAT SKILL LEVEL IS THIS COURSE FOR?
On a scale of 1 – 10 (with 10 being advanced), I’d say this course is about a 3 or 4. This course is meant for an late beginner to intermediate user and even beyond. Some one who at least knows the basics of using Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop. You’ll have to know how to open your photos, and what the basic sliders do. But the techniques are all very simple and probably use tools you’ve used before. You probably won’t learn any new tools in this course. But you will learn a new and creative way to use them.
CAN I WATCH THIS ON MY IPAD OR TABLET?
Yes. The videos are compatible with your tablets. However, you’ll first need to download them to your computer and then transfer the videos to your tablet.
HOW MANY COMPUTERS CAN I WATCH THIS ON?
You can download this course for us on up to 5 computers.
IS THIS THE SAME COURSE I PURCHASED FROM YOU SOMEWHERE ELSE?
No. Other than testing out the content at a few live events, my No Light courses have not been published elsewhere.
WHAT VERSION OF LIGHTROOM OR PHOTOSHOP DO I NEED?
You’ll at least need Lightroom 6. About 95% of this course will work fine in Lightroom 6. But there are a few options (range masking and some profiles for finishing touches) that I use occasionally that require the Latest version of Lightroom Classic CC. You can also use the “cloud” version of Lightroo for this as well.
WHAT VERSION OF ON1 PHOTO RAW DO I NEED?
Volume 2 was recorded using ON1 2020. ON1 version 2019 is exactly the same so 99% of what I do in 2020 will work fine in 2019. Volume 1 was recorded using ON1 2018. While Layers work a little different, all of the tools and techinques work very similar in the new versions.
DO I HAVE TO START THIS COURSE ON A CERTAIN DAY OR FOLLOW A SCHEDULE?
No, not at all. When you purchase the course you’ll download it and the videos are yours to keep. At that point you can watch them at any time on your own schedule.
IS THIS A SUBSCRIPTION?
Nope. It’s a one time purchase. You will download these videos to your computer and you can keep them and watch them whenever you’d like.

Who Is Matt Kloskowski?
If I could sum myself up in to one sentence I’d say that I’m a guy who really loves to teach. When I think about what I enjoy most in this industry, it’s helping people learn about photography and photo editing. I don’t shoot professionally, I don’t have any trade secrets, and I hold ABSOLUTELY NOTHING back. Do I love the occasional compliment on my photography? Sure… who doesn’t? But what really keeps me going is when I hear success stories from people who have taken my courses. So hop on board, and I hope to hear from you soon 🙂
