The YouTube Rabbit Hole

Don’t get me wrong… I love YouTube for certain things.
But once you start looking on YouTube you’ll start getting turned around in all directions for what you want to learn. The problem with that is it can get confusing because now you’re learning all different ways to do things from many different people – and in many cases you’re not learning the “right” way – you’re just learning what that creator decided would make a good video to get a lot of views with that day.

Sneak Peak

Key Areas You’ll Learn About

This course is organized into 6 modules. Each one covers a specific area to help you focus your “How To’s”. You can watch whatever you like, whenever you like.

Necessities and Photo Fixes

The necessities module is huge for learning important settings and preferences.

Creative Styling and Design Related

Adding the creative element to your photos is so important.

Selections and Portraits

The Selection module is always one of the top favorites. Plus, you’ll learn the most popular how to’s for portraits.

An Encylopedia vs

Dictionary

There are various types of courses that I create. Some are similar to encyclopedias – where they go deeper in to various topics. That’s a lot like my Photoshop System course, which is meant for beginners. I go deep into Layers, what they are and how to use them. And I think that’s a great place for people to start learning. When I was young, I much preferred looking at Encylclopedias to learn or reference from.
But then there’s the Dictionary. That’s great once people already understand the language (in this case, language of Photoshop), and just want to look something up quickly.

That’s where my Photoshop “How To” course fits in. If you already know the basics of the language of Photoshop, this course is the next step to quickly learning and referencing the most popular Photoshop Techniques and learning them quickly and efficiently.

Photoshop Skill Level

Layers | Basic Selections | Brushes

Please don’t get me wrong… this isn’t an advanced course. But it’s not meant for an absolute beginner either.

In Photoshop, you’ll need to know the basics of how to use Layers, the basics of masking, Brushes, selections, blend modes, and applying a Filter to your photos. Please watch the video here for a quick 2 minute video on the ideal viewer for this course.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Software / Versions will I need?

This course is recorded in the 2023 version of Photoshop and includes any updates for the changes in Photoshop 2024. Many things will work in earlier versions as well, but it’s best to have the latest version to take advantage of all of the vidoes.

Do I Need This if I already own the Photoshop System Course? And is that course a prerequisite?

These two courses are 100% seperate and don’t rely on each other. This course is a great follow up to the Photoshop System course, but it is not a prerequisite to have purchased that course.

If you’re brand new to Photoshop, then this course may NOT be the place to start because I won’t teach you the concepts from the ground up – that’s what the Photoshop System is for.

This “How To” course assumes you know the basics of how to get around Photoshop and use the basic tools. This allows me to teach the intermediate user faster and more efficiently because I don’t have to cover each concept from scratch – and allows you the viewer, to learn faster and easier.

How is this different from your Photoshop System Course?

The Photoshop System course was created to teach you Photoshop from the ground up. And because it’s meant for beginners, it concentrates more on teaching you what a layer is, what a selection is, brush basics, masking basics, etc…

The problem is that the most common questions I get are “How To’s”. But that simply doesn’t make sense for a basic Photoshop course, because you need the foundation first.

This course picks up to more of a late beginner to intermediate level Photoshop User. I’m assuming you know the basics, which let us dive in to every video to the “How To’s” and get right to it – rather than (for example…) having to go slow and explain what a layer is, and how to add a new one.

Do I Get a Discount if I Already Purchased the Photoshop System?

The course is on sale right now so there are no further discounts. If you wait until after the sale, then sure… feel free to email us if you already have the Photoshop System and we’ll get you a discount, but it will not be as low as the price is this week and will not include the bonuses.

Will You Be Covering the New Photoshop Beta and Generative AI Feature?

I will not at this point. It is in beta and I’m not a fan of installing beta software. It just opens my computer up to problems… and well… it’s beta.

I have nothing against AI and I think the new features will be great once they’re included in the full release version. And when they are, I’ll add them to the course.

But at this point, I’d have a hard time believing that 1 Generative AI video is keeping you from purchasing a course with over 100 other great videos 😉

What is the skill level of this course?

This course can be for a late beginner all the way up advanced. As long as you know the basics, I think there is a TON you can take away from it.

But if you’re an advanced user, please make sure you go at this with the right mindset. I (most likely) won’t be teaching you a new tools. When you’re advanced, if you learn how to use an existing tool in a new way or better, than you got your money’s worth.

Don’t buy this if you’re going to say “I already knew that”. There’s enough new content in here that I know that’s not true 🙂

“Good editing is where taste and skill meet”

Who Is Matt?

If I could sum myself up in to one sentence I’d say that I’m a guy who really loves to teach. When I think about what I enjoy most in this industry, it’s helping people learn about photography and photo editing.

I believe that successful photography (both in camera and after) is where taste and skill meet.

A lot of people don’t know this, but I don’t shoot professionally anymore. At all! I have ZERO ego attached to my photography which means I don’t have any trade secrets, and I hold ABSOLUTELY NOTHING back (because my job is to teach, not shoot).

Do I love the occasional compliment on my photography? Sure… who doesn’t? But what really keeps me going is when I hear success stories from people who have taken my courses. So hop on board, and I hope to hear from you soon
