What’s Included?
All Videos and Several Follow Along Files
You’ll get access to all course videos and some follow along files. Please note that this course has been created for Topaz Photo AI (Not the old DeNoise and Sharpen plug-ins). Topaz Photo AI Settings and Adobe Workflow
1. Interface Tour
We start out with a tour of the Photo AI interface. We’ll talk about the layout, settings, and how to understand the flow of the interface.
2. Should I Use Standalone App or Plug-In?
Photo AI can be used as a plug-in to Adobe apps or as a standalone application. We’ll cover the situations in which you’ll want to use each of them.
3. Step-by-Step in Photo AI
Topaz Photo AI has several enhancements and it can be confusing as to which enhancement to use and when to do it in your workflow. In these videos you’ll learn the proper order in which to add each enhancement in Photo AI.
4. Adobe Workflow
We’ll cover the workflow if you’re a Lightroom Classic user, Lightroom Desktop, or Photoshop. While a lot of the workflow is the same because we’ll edit in Topaz first, you’ll learn the best place to launch it as a plug-in as well.
5. Gigapixel AI Quick Start
While this course is mainly aimed at Topaz Photo AI and Adobe workflow, I did include a couple of videos that show the basics of using Gigapixel and when you’d want to use it.

Do I Need Topaz… or Can I use Lightroom or Photoshop Instead?
While workflow remains constant in many ways, it does change over time as new technology comes out.
For my wildlife and landscape photos I often use Topaz Photo AI when I need the BEST quality. That word “Best” is important, because not all photos are equal and sometimes I can get away with “good enough”.
Adobe has great Noise Reduction and I use it often on photos that don’t require a lot of help. But when I have a really high ISO photo, with a lot of cropping, I find opening the raw file in Topaz Photo AI performs better than Adobe.
As for sharpening, I think we can all agree Adobe has been lacking in this area for a long time. There has been no new (good) sharpening technology from Adobe in a over a decade. But over time, as Topaz has gotten better, I use it on both my wildlife and landscape photos – and I’m able to get much better results than Adobe.
And when used in combination with Noise Reduction you’ll be able to take some very unusable photos and turn them in to photos that can be shared fairly large, or even printed.
Watch Online or Download
You get both options as part of your purchase. You can watch/stream the course online (always the best option), or you can download to your computer and keep forever.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this course include Topaz Photo AI Software?
No. You have to purchase their software from their website. Click here for more info.
Is This Course an Update to Your Older Topaz Deep Dive?
No. This is a new course. Topaz Photo AI is an entirely different and new software now from what I created previously. I’m no longer able to update the old course.
While those apps may technically still work, they are discontinued, so if you plan to use Topaz going forward, Photo AI is the program to use.
Do I Need Topaz Photo AI if I already have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop?
That’s a tough question because the answer is different for everyone. For me, if my photo needs help with severe noise reduction and sharpening then I turn to Photo AI as I get better results than with Adobe. However, if my photo only needs minor noise reduction and sharpening then Adobe LR or PS usually work just fine for me. Like your various lenses, filters, etc… Photo AI is a tool that you pull out when you need it. It doesn’t have to be an all or nothing thought process. I use it when I need it and when I do need it, I get superior image quality.
How do I get Topaz Photo AI?
You can buy it on their website. They have a Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale going on and if you use my link I will be very grateful and as a thank you I’ll include a PDF Shortcut Guide for Photo AI. For more info on how to purchase Topaz Photo AI and get the PDF go to https://mattk.com/topaz
What software versions will I need?
This course is created for Topaz Photo AI as of November 2024. It also includes 2 “Overview” videos for Gigapixel too, but it is not specifically designed for Gigapixel training as Photo AI meets most photographers needs.
Is Topaz a subscription like Adobe?
My course is NOT a subscription. It’s a one time payment and you keep it and watch it as much as you’d like. But their software is a little different from Adobe. With Topaz, you do get to keep your license if you don’t ever renew. But if you don’t renew, you stop getting updates.
What skill is this course aimed at?
Like nearly all of my editing courses, the skill level is late beginner to intermediate. If you watch me edit, you’ll see I don’t use complicated tools. I really believe the magic is knowing what to do with the tools, not necessarily the tools themselves.
If you know the basics of using the editing controls in Lightroom and how to use Layers, selections, and brushes in Photoshop you have all you need to follow this course.
If you came to this page from an email I sent, you are already on my list. Please do not fill out the form below or you will get added twice. Thanks!
