In this video we’ll take a look at the new sky replacement and selection tools in Photoshop 2021.
After upgrade to LR 10.1, all presets gone. When this happened previously checking boxes to show partially comparable presents and Store presets with this catalog brought them back. Not working this time. All brush presets gone also! Its there another solution to getting these back? I keep the photo file folder & catalog folder on an external hard drive.
Thank you! I have a question about using sky replacement to replace an entire background. It kinda works until it gets to about the bottom quarter of the image where there must be some gradient applied to the sky/background because it won’t extend to the bottom border. Is there any way I can adjust this so that I can replace the entire background, not just the “sky” portion?
Hi Matt, I am in England and love your stuff. Some great little additions here, have tried the Neural filters but every time it just crashes Photoshop. Are these items not available yet, or has the update not loaded correctly. Thanks for all your short learning videos, both me and my husband are Seniors and love to get out taking pictures. Photoshop and Lightroom realy keep the brain ticking.
as always…. a great teaching video!! thanks!
Very helpful thank you. Now if Adobe would fix the SW so we can actually use it I’ll be in great shape. Many users, including me, can’t open images and can’t close the program without going into the task manager to kill it. Kudos to Adobe management and test teams. Good thing I didn’t delete the previous version.
Thank you, Matt. As always, you explain it so well.
Just upgraded from PSE13 to 2021 but the events didn’t come over. Is there anyway to fix this?
Hi Francis – sorry, I can’t troubleshoot that one.
Matt – as usual a wonderful, informative, well organized, easy to follow video! Question – is it possible to add a collection of personal sky images to Photoshop for use in the sky replacement feature – or do they need to add sky images one at a time? Thanks.
PS – Sorry if this is a duplicate post – I seem to be having problems sending a comment to you.
Hi Steve. Right now it’s one at a time but it looks like they want to be able to import a group at some point.
Matt
Great tutorial but I had one small problem the first time I followed your steps in Sky Replacement. Initially I could not make the reflection steps work properly. Why? When I used the move tool with the flipped copy layer the sky was also moving in the replacement layer as they were linked. When you created a copy it was not linked. I had to right click on the right of copy layer (there was a link icon visible on my copy which was not visible on yours when you performed that step) and unlink the layers. Is there a way to create a copy of a layer which does not carry the link aspect or is there something in my preferences that has led to this creation of linked copy? Thank you for all you do for we amateurs on a gratuitous basis.
Fantastic upgrade, and excellent preview on your part. Matt, you are a gifted teacher.
Nothing startling here, but when selecting for hair if one uses the color aware mode to create a layer, and then goes back and repeats using the object aware mode to create another different layer, then combines both, the results are incredible.
Sky replacement is fabulous. When stuck with an image with a flat grey sky it is quicker and easier than any other method I have ever used.
The Neural filters will need to improve, but what a great start!
Matt, regarding the Neural Filters, beta section. Most of mine don’t appear usable. Starting at Photo Restoration they don’t show “Beta”. Just have an “i” and a right arrow, both do nothing. The right panel has an “I’m interested” button for comments. Am I missing something?
Sorry, finally found it: “Coming soon – These are filters that are not yet available but may be available in the near future.
Vote for your favorite filters by clicking on the I’m Interested button!”
YOWZA!!!! What an update!!! Well done Matt
Thanks for a great overview!!
I have an old iMac which due to hardware limitations will not upgrade to Mojave, therefore although I pay the monthly subscription I can no longer get the LR/PS updates. Does this mean I will get a discount — I don’t suppose so, any one else in the same situation. Is there anyway of registering this issue with Adobe?
Luminar AI killer
Is there a specific process to upgrading from 21.2.4 to 22?
Hi Jerry. Did you watch the beginning of the video? You don’t upgrade version 21. You Install the new version 22 and remove the old one.
Thanks Matt. My problem is that I was running High Sierra, 13.10.6, so as to easily update my Sony cameras.
I upgraded to Catalina and have V22.
I restarted my computer and went into the home button. A window came up to try Sky Replacement and the new version went into my computer
Its certainly makes a difference. Works really well
I too could not run the upgrade. Restarted the program and the cpu nothing worked. Hope they find the fix soon since i am out of work.
Can you still use the previous version? Chances are you didn’t un-install it.
Thanks Matt. See you at MAX
Just updated to the new Photoshop and it will not load. Keep getting error message: Error at loading of ippCV library.
Anyone else having a problem or does anyone know what that means?
Lightroom Classic and Bridge are fine.
Cliff
it wasn’t there on my computer 2 hrs ago, and checked again and it was there for all programs, so keep checking.
Hi.Restarting usually helps too.
Thanks Matt. As I’ve mentioned before I love your teaching style. Very easy to follow. I’ve been buying your training material for about 13 years and love them. Thanks a bunch for all of the “Free” mini courses/ updates that you provide us. Clay
When is it available? Not available to me at 3:00 pm 10/20/2020
Try restarting your computer.
