Black Friday / Cyber Monday Sales Are Live! (CLICK HERE)

Hey everyone. It’s been a crazy month so far and a lot has happened in my training world, so I figured I’d give you a quick update in case you’re interested in any of it.

Please Excuse My Moment of Sappiness
Before I start, I just wanted to get sappy for a minute and say thank you. Making the decision to go on board with onOne, and leave KelbyOne last November was incredibly difficult, and one of the hardest choices I’ve made. I was a little worried that I’d lose some of my audience, because you were used to finding me there. But I have to say a huge thank you for all of your support, whether it’s comments, email, likes or just a click to my website. My traffic stats, social accounts, and overall feedback has actually grown quite a bit since then, and I just wanted to say thanks for continuing to give me some of your time during the week. Okay… sappy moment finished 🙂 Now on to the training stuff:

1. Creative Live Photoshop Week – Creative Live just announced Photoshop Week 2015 from February 23-28th and I’ll be joining in this year. I’ll be teaching some Lightroom, Photoshop Restoration stuff, and a new class I’m really excited about called “10 Things that Lightroom Users Need to Know in Photoshop”. Lightroom can do so much, and sometimes it’s confusing where Lightroom stops and Photoshop starts. So this class will show you the 10 main things that (as a LR user), I think you still need Photoshop for. It’s free to watch live and here’s the link to sign up. And here’s a quick (and funny) video kicking it off.

2. Organizing Your Photos – Over the holidays I did a video at onOne which has to be one of the hands-down most-requested topics I get asked about. It’s called Matt’s Ultimate Guide to Organizing your Photos with Lightroom. While the class is geared toward Lightroom, the system I use actually works as a nice system for just organizing your photos in general too.

See, a little over a year ago, I started teaching (to my live classes) a new way of importing your photos in to Lightroom, and it literally revolutionized the way I explain what goes on with your photos behind-the-scenes. The part I’m really psyched about is that I’ve been told by hundreds of people that this class was what helped make Lightroom “click” for them. The best part about it is that it’s only 40 minutes long. When you get in to it, this stuff is actually very simple, so I wanted to keep it short and sweet.

I even talk a little bit about onOne’s Perfect Browse module which is incredibly fast at showing you your photos. It’s got a lot of photographers using it as a front end to Lightroom. Mainly because they can find their favorites so darn fast, and then have those favorites show up in Lightroom without doing any extra flagging or rating. The video is on sale for $20 over on the onOne store. And… you can download and keep it forever.

3. KelbyOne Classes – I recently had two KelbyOne classes go live. While I’m really proud of all of them, I’m especially happy with my class on Photographing Cityscapes. I’ve gotten a HUGE amount of nice comments about this class already, and I think you’ll really enjoy it. It seems like a niche topic, but I’m amazed at how many people have already sent me messages about how much this class has helped and inspired them to get out shooting.

Another class that I’ve gotten a ton of great feedback on is my How to Take (and process) Tack Sharp Photos. I taught a class similar to this at Photoshop World. It was earlier in the morning and I figured the topic was so small that barely anyone would show up. I was amazed to walk in to the room and see over 400 people sitting there. I guess we all want sharper photos 🙂

4. I’m Heading to WPPI! – I’ll also be teaching at WPPI again this year. I’m teaching a class called “Lightroom Workflow for a Busy Studio” and also leading a photowalk. Here’s the link to sign up if you’re going.

Whew! It’s been a crazy couple of months and there’s still lot of good things to come. I know my KelbyOne class on photographing landscapes at Mt. Rainier is coming up and I’m also teaching a few workshops, but I’ll post more when I have some details. Thanks for stopping by everyone! Have a good one!
