Every once in a while a small feature comes out that I never saw coming. One-click dust removal is one of them. I’ve always been happy-enough with Lightroom’s dust and spot removal feature, but if I had a problem photo, it definitely took a while to do it manually. But with the latest release to Camera Raw (17.5), now Adobe has included a one-click Dust Removal feature that works really well (and fast!). Enjoy!
NOTE: This feature is in the latest update to Camera Raw (17.5). Please check your Adobe Creative Cloud app for updates and if you’re not able to find this feature or update, you’d need to contact Adobe.

I love teaching and photography... In that order. I feel that enjoying photography, and photo editing can get WAY too complicated. So my personal mission (and favorite thing to do), is to create education that simplifies the process of taking great photos, and how to edit them to get the results youโve always wanted.
You mention that the dust removal is in Camera Raw. Will it work with HEIC and JPG versions too? Was the Camera Raw 17.5 just for editing with Camera Raw or could it be used to edit other formats as well. I use an iPhone 13 pro running iOS 26. I’ve turned on Apple ProRaw but have not taken any pictures since then to see if I am actually able to use the RAW files. I’ve previously gone from JPG to HEIC although I often have to change back to a JPG in order to actually use my files. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Helen. I’m not sure about the image formats, but easy enough to test out. Take some photos with your phone and let us know what you find out. Thanks!
You speak about the topic that’s buzzing around in my head before I get a chance to ask….
HAHAHA
It sounds mish mash….but I suppose you get what I’m trying to say….
Excellent video as always.
I donโt usually have a lot of spots. Yes, I do change lenses in the field but my Fujiโs do a great job keeping dust off when I use the internal โshakerโ. That said, this is a super addition to ACR and Iโm sure weโll see it in LrC/LR soon. Thank you Adobe!
As much as I enjoy your videos, this one is a topic I have never had a problem with. I am so careful when I change lenses, I have not needed to clean a sensor in ten years. Sure, I get a couple of spots now and then, but a Rocket Blower has always done the trick.
That is not to say I have not missed any opportunities by refusing to change lenses outdoors. ๐
As usual, good as well as usual. Many thanks.
Nice that this has been developed. However if there is one thing which is best done “in camera” it is dust removal!
Since the introduction of shutter closure with power down, rarely do I have dust, and my Arctic Butterfly electrostatic brush has sufficed w/o need to wet swab the sensor.
Another excellent video. I sure hope Adobe incorporates it in to LR.
HI Mat, I jst went to Photoshop to check this out but dust removal is not available . what version of PS in needed?
Hi Marisa. If you check out the paragraph at the top of the page I mentioned the version (Camera Raw 17.5). Thanks!
Looking forward to viewing and learningnew skills in Photoshop Lightroom that would help me better edit my photography!
Thanks for the great update! I appreciate your updates and classes.
WOW!!! So much to see, so much to learn! I hope I can make all, or most, of these classes. THANK YOU!!
I have been enjoying VIP membership since the 2021 summit (both Lightroom and Photoshop) and highly recommend VIP. All of the instructors are orders of magnitude better than the random YouTube presentations. I have found the hours of classes are far more than can be digested on a forced march. OK, I am 84 and a bit slower but I study the classes for weeks after. I view classes that I seemingly have no apparent interest in only to find I learn something. And you get a whopping $10 off VIP next time.
