This week we’ll cover one of my favorite little masking tips in Lightroom and/or Photoshop. Too often the selection edges aren’t perfect with some of the AI selection tools and we think we have to manually adjust them. But with this tip, you’ll see you can get instantly better edges with just one click. Enjoy!

This needs CPB now more than ever!
I just love the way you explain things! Thank you so much!
So helpful Matt. Getting ready for new shots for my next show and this is great help.in my editing.
Hey Matt! I was expecting you to make the best selection you could, be it sky or subject, and then invert to do the job you really wanted done. I don’t need it too often but it comes in handy.
Maybe a quick follow up tutorial on using the invert as well as the intersection features, if it doesn’t impinge on your paid courses.
Not sure why you have the back of your computer, its stand and the hard drives in the background so brightly lit. It’s a distraction and doesn’t really add to any visual impact. Ditto for the plant, etc, on the right. Glad you’ve lost the hanging lights over your right shoulder.
The video, itself, is helpful and welcomed.
Hanging lights are still there. Don’t worry… I’ll make sure not to cover them next time! Gotta give you more chances to leave useless comments ๐
always great tips explained so well!!
This will save so much time!! Thank you, and happy golfing.
Thank you,was a useful tip.
This is good info Matt. I see a lot of Bird photos with not the best selections and the blue sky is white around area’s of the wings like you showed with the Eagle photo and sometimes the select Sky is off too. You can subtract Color range also to refine it to. If the select Sky is off I sometimes Add color Range also and click on the sky. Enjoying your video’s.
Hi Matt,
Thanks for this – such a simple concept to solve a sometimes nasty problem.
BTW – enjoy the golf. I see that you’ve been to Augusta, as have I. In my case, it helped having an old school friend who used to play.
Cheers
Simon
