It’s time for another start to finish tutorial (Photo Makeover). This is where I start from scratch with a raw photo and show you my editing process and thoughts along the way. It’s less of a in-depth tutorial teaching you features, and more about the overall thought process I go through while editing a photo. Enjoy!
Very nice Matt. I always learn a lot from your videos and courses. Thank You!
Matt,
Thanks! I learned a lot plus it reminded me about a few things I had “learned before” and had forgotten.
Thanks Matt! Another great working example!
Thanks for the video Matt. I have gotten into the habbit of using the removal tool in Lightroom, so I appriciate the reminder that Photoshop has very powerfull options available.
Thanks for another excellent video, Matt. I like the start to finish format because it shows the order to do things, and your analysis of what the photo needs.
Great, I learned something new once again, thanks Matt.
Great video. Every time I watch your videos I learn something. Thank you so much.
This was really helpful. I presume your landscape editing class is updated to include the new LR masking capabilities? Thanks!
Hi Cindy. It does talk a little about them but it’s not a course on the masking changes. Most of this course is done in Photoshop. Thanks
Impressive, succinct but as always very informative video that helped me a great deal. Just need to practice more.
Thanks, John.
Matt, this is really great…you showed me several new tricks, but most of all, you techniques are great and thank you for all the tutorials you produce…I’m always looking new ones…Thank you again…
Another great video …thanks so much Matt for your clear, concise explanation of your edits!
Great Video and great shirt Matt! Very well done on both counts.
Thank you for the spot on help with the MacBook Pro System Requirements email and advice. The learning curve is much less steep now as a result of that help.
Thank you, Matt. Excellent tutorial. I am relatively new to Lightroom Classic; until now, did not know of the intersect functionality. I am certain I will use this tool when editing my landscape photos.
Excellent video. Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something. Your style of presentation is perfect and is easy to follow without getting in the weeds. Thanks.
I would like to have hard copy of your course.
I own your 2019 version of Landscape Editing and I would like to upgrade it to your new 2022 version of Landscape Editing. Do you offer an upgrade path that will help me with the latest changes to ACR. I like the your idea of moving from Lightroom to Photoshop to perform the clean-up operations and then saving back into Lightroom but I use ACR instead of Lightroom. Is there way of moving the file from ACR into Photoshop for clean-up and then moving the file back into ACR? In other words can I save the cleaned-up Photohop file as a .dng raw file so that I can do further work in ACR?
Thanks
Phil
Thanks, Matt – very useful info
Loved your Fresh Start Program last month and have been working on the LR class. This caught my interest when I received the notice earlier today. Can’t wait to try this myself when I complete more of the LR and PS courses. Amazing instruction and training, Matt!
That was excellent, in particular, I found the use of the intersecting adjustment/luminance mask and the warming of the darker areas when lightened really “illuminating” (bad pun). In PS, the use of both the lasso/content-aware fill and the adjustment brush and switching from one to the other was also a good learning experience.
excellent
I appreciate this kind of tutorial and find this one very helpful. Thanks!
Matt, I have not been able to play your latest video. I get a message that an error has occurred (Playback ID: Cmx5PEmR4Xi7-Nqa). I have restarted my computer with no success. I can play the video on my phone. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jack Blachly
Hi Jack. Sorry about that but it’s definitely something on your end so I’m not sure how to help.

Thanks, Matt! I learn something every time I watch one of these!
Thanks. Good video!
wow – love this whole video especially the LightRoom Classic masking but so impressed with the hint of using the lasso tool and content aware. Just WOW
Thanks! Great presentation!! You have the image labeled Cap Cod. Must be Cape Cod where I live 🙂
Let her rip lol
Great information Matt !! Thanks in the way you put on your videos they are very helpful!!
Thanks you very much, as always I learn something from your videos
Great job showing these tools. I learn so many tops/ tricks that are invaluable no matter what genre of photo I’m editing! Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
Thank you . I was not aware of this new tool in Lightroom.
NIce work!
Love your T-Shirt, Matt! And, thanks, I also love these start-to-finish videos.
Thanks Matt. It is always helpful to understand your thought process as well as the how you handle the technical aspects of LR and PS.
another wonderful example. I would like to see a short video on luminance masking
thanks
Thank you for explaining so clearly
