Hi Matt from Austin! I’m the guy that trudged through the ice storm to make it to your live class on time years ago. 🙂 On your first tip, you talked about the new Free Transform behavior being “industry standard”…. perhaps for photographers using other non-Adobe software. BUT… for the rest of us who use most of the Adobe Creative Cloud applications (I’m a designer/developer), it is definitely not “industry standard”. All the other Creative Cloud applications use the so-called “legacy” behavior and it was a real PITA to have to remember that now I am in Photoshop and it is not consistent with the rest of CC. Like many other designers, I am thrilled there is a new preference to go back to the old behavior consistent with the rest of CC… that’s my 2 bits. Personally, I don’t care which way the command works… I just need it to be consistent across all the CC applications.
.
Cheers and hope to see you in Austin again.
your fan, Thomas
p.s. Avoid our ice storms! 🙂
Great tips as always. I would love to see your approach to using the graduated filter in photoshop. Most of the video that I’ve seen spend more time with the graphic design usages rather than the photo usages.
I purchased the PS Course and noticed that I lost my weekly OFFICE HRS and Q&A. I contacted Matt and was told that they no longer have those videos. By any chance would someone who purchased that course and has the office hrs + Q&A be able to copy and send to me? Thanks. fingers crossed.
Use Shift for Tool Switch is checked on in my Prefs. So I’m assuming that means it’s a default since I know I didn’t activate it (not knowing what it meant…. 🙂 ).
Yahoo! Very much appreciated!
Sometimes, the simplest topics are the most useful. I must have had the “use Shift Key for Tool Switch” unchecked sometime in the past because I’m often confused about a Tool Switch. Now I know why!!
That tip and the text box tip were well worth the 15 min to watch the vid (twice!).
Thanks Matt. I appreciate the tip on the text box. It was so annoying to have a previous text box automatically get selected instead of creating a new one.
Thanks this was enlightening. Especially about the free transform and text editing. Thought I was losing my mind
Thanks Matt,
I was trying to get rid of Loren Ipsum from the type tool so bad.
It annoys me so much. Thanks for showing me where to check it OFF.
Thanks, Matt. I’ve been bitten by my tools switching inexplicably, and now I know why (and can fix it)! The auto tip explanation wasn’t very clear, so until now, I left that option unchecked.
I was puzzled/annoyed by the auto constrain Transform change because every Mac program for 30 years has required using the Shift key. It is still used in Ps to help draw straight lines elsewhere because of this legacy. And, of course, Lr also requires the Shift key for proportional constraint using the crop tool. This trained monkey prefers consistency ?
