This time around Blake Rudis and I got together to chat about different editing styles and if there is a “right” way to do things.
How to Listen/Watch
You can listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Google. Or you can watch it below.
The podcast is NOT intended to be visual in any way, so all youโre doing is watching the two of us talk and nothing else. But if thatโs the way you prefer it, feel free. Personally, podcasts are something I listen to when I have nothing else to do, or to keep me busy while doing something else โ so I never watch them.

PRO TIP: I typically listen to podcasts on my phone while driving or in the gym. And I usually set most podcasts to 1.25x โ 1.5x speed to get through it faster.
Since this IS NOT A TRAINING tutorial, and itโs just us talking, I think you can speed us up and get through it faster so feel free to give it a try. I canโt help you find that setting, but againโฆ most podcast apps have it, so poke around. If you can use Lightroom and Photoshop I have no doubt you can figure out how to use a podcast app ?
and then once you guys discover Capture One…. you’ll never look back at Adobe Raw or Lightroom… they are so clunky and tethering fails constantly –
Thank you for a great pod.
Pretty typical (and tired) comment from a C1 user isn’t it? You think that we don’t want the best software so we must have missed something. Why would we not try every tool out there to determine what we think is best for the people we teach? I’ve used it many times. I’m Glad you like it and it works for you, but for me there’s just no replacement to Adobe that’s better. If there was I’d use it in a heartbeat. I enjoy my editing time and when the final photo hits the paper or the screen, nobody can tell what you use – so I use what works for me and the people I teach seem to enjoy it.
Matt got me on Lightroom and after years of lightroom, I don’t think I could move to photoshop to all my postprocessing workflow. The layers and layers of masks in Photoshop to me is crazy. With lightroom it seems more manageable.
Love the blended, down-to-earth approach that emits from the two of you.
I enjoy these conversations. Thanks to both of you.
Hi, Brilliant Podcast – greatly eased my anxiety in my search for “the right way” to approach editing.
I’ll stick with what I do: Bridge (but I wish ‘View Sub folders content’ was ‘sticky’>ACR>Photoshop>Lightroom to catalogue output and for home printing.
