I’m going to share something a little different this time around. You’ll get to see a live wildlife shoot and what it looks like through my lens. Settings, jumping AF points, and all. Then we’ll take a look through some of the photos and do a quick edit. Let me know what you think of this format and if you’d like to see more. Enjoy!

Great video, Matt! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this information with everyone. You are one of my. favorite instructors.
Thank you, Mark, Great informational video. You are the best instructor.
Great informational video Matt. So razor sharp. Favourite moment for me when the bird missed the catch and caught it again.
great video ! do more of these
Matt, You are an excellent instructor, and I enjoy your presentations.
Great video – thanks Matt
Loved the video – thanks for sharing
Thanks very informative. For my personal taste the final shot is still too “pale” (cool) and needs some more warmth. Just personal view for my taste. Thanks for your enthusiasm and greetings from South Africa.
One of these days I’m going to buy you a bourbon and a good cigar. !! Thanks for the great info.
Love it thank you so much Matt
Nicely done.
Hi Matt: I just purchased a Nikon Z 5ii. I take delivery in a couple of weeks. I’m enthused about doing some bird photography. The auto focus has some big improvements that lock in very well. I’ll look up the webinar that you suggested. I’ll let you know ow I do with my new Nikon.
Matt,
I enjoyed this video. I like the simplicity and you quick little edits. I will be checking out the video you mention during the recording. Thanks.
Good Light,
Mark
Loved it, Matt! I have gotten behind on your spontaneous webinars and also want to order some additional videos from your website. Love how I have them stored in one place, because organization and efficiency are not my strong points. I told you at the end of your first Costa Rica workshop in 2017 (such good memories) that I would be stalking you, and I still am! Thanks for all the awesome information!!
Love your tutorial videos…They are simply outstanding, and you are a great and Patient teacher
I like your approach to teaching and plan on looking at more of your videos.
Sure wish I was in Florida as it’s only 38 degrees here in Baltimore, Ohio.
Thank you, Pam
I always enjoy your teaching videos! I have several of your teaching programs just need the time to watch all of them! Being able to see the actual shooting process through your viewfinder was awesome, i remember seeing it in the birding video you referenced during this video, you make it all look so easy!
Love it, thanks for sharing. How do you like the 400-800?

i have purchased your wildlife couse and do not recall if you mentioned this.
Hi Orlin. 95% electronic.
great shot for sure, appreciate all the info
Good info,Matt
Matt, you do an excellent job with your training videos. I appreciate your training and remember some of our times together.
Fabulous shot Matt! Thanks for sharing!
Cannot find the video you described as “3 Key Settings to Razor Sharp Results!”.
Very very Beautiful job Matt!!!
I work in Adobe Raw but the icons are similar. I appreciate you showing the steps you take with Topax AI use it too) and all the rest. Waitng for more videos.
Great shot.
Very helpful info!
Love the idea of seeing what the camera sees, and which picture you liked the best for the reasons you mention. Very educational, just shows the importance of patience when it comes to wildlife.
Great focused video that covers some great pearls on both taking, as well as editing photos. It works perfectly with my 10 minutes ADHD attention span….
Matt, do you add Texture in the subject mask to bring out the feathers?
Matt, I tried to find The 3 key settings to razor sharp results and I didn’t find it. Can you provide the url? Thanks in advance!
JP
Great video
Excellent tutorial! Thank you for allowing us to see what you were doing as you did it….kind of like being there. What a great way to learn!
I like this approach. Great way to teach. Thanks Matt!
Matt, you are amazing! I don’t know what I would do without your help. You are so LOGICAL!
Tom and Cree Bol first told me about you several years ago and I have been a loyal follower ever since.
I think this might be the first time I have commented on a video you have shared. So THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!
Great video. I think videos like this help photographers see the value in some of the amazing tool we have today.
Thanks for all you do.
Great video, gets to key points without unnecessary comment. Love the short format.
Great info. Thanks
Great look at the new Sony 400-800 and lovely learning session!
Thank you Matt
Loved the experience. I do have a couple of questions.
First, what was your frame rate?
Second, while the egret was moving pretty fast, I wonder if you could have achieved the same results with 1/2000, or even 1/1000.
Finally, I too have an Alpha 1 MII. I also use Photo AI. I’ve found that at this time, Photo AI does not support the ARW produced by the Alpha 1 MII, so I must convert to DNG before using Photo AI. I think I saw DNG as the file type given to Photo AI, but thought I’d make sure, in case you know some trick.
Again, a great experience.
Hi Greg.
1. Not sure. I usually live around 10-20 and only 30 when I’m on a photo shoot with spectacular things happening from spectacular subjects (this was not one of those). I have thousands of thousands of Reddish Egret photos. I still enjoy the process of shooting and going out there, but I’m usually at 10fps with them because I don’t want to fill up my cards or hard drives. It sounds odd, but I have so many good photos of them that would be hard to beat, so I don’t bother shooting high fps with them anymore.
2. Maybe but why risk it. That movement it did was fast. 1/1000th would definitely have been blurry. Not sure about 1/2000th but again, why risk it if I don’t have to. 1/2000th is on the low end of what I’d shoot fast action with and my guess is some would be sharp and some blurry if it were a fast bird. A flying Great Blue Heron… sure… I’d shoot it at 1/1000th all day.
3. I’m really annoyed that at this point they haven’t put support for A1 ii yet. I have to do the same thing, and I can’t understand that for a camera that’s been out since late December, we’re in April and don’t have support for it.
Thanks!
This was perfect. From capture to edit.
Thank you.
Very good Thanks

I liked it. The format of โreal time โ was interesting, especially to see which shot and why it was chosen was helpful. And the post processing and reasons why were helpful too. I still use Lightroom Classic – Iโd be lost without my ability to use Collections, so right now donโt see me changing. Thanks for so much free info. I so have several of the courses too, so donโt feel like Iโm mooching too much. ๐
Thanks! I have collections… they’re called Albums. Sure I have to sync to the cloud, but I want to for my good photos so I have them available on every device/computer. And I don’t see a reason to save bad photos in to a collection, so it’s a perfect workflow for me. But I get it’s not for everyone, I just know it’s made my workflow so much simpler and easier since the switch. Thanks!
Thanks
Thanks Matt love watching your videos.
As always. Great stuff!
Mark, like this different video. Not selling but informative. Know you must make money but this type of video is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I’m sure a Mark somewhere thanks you ๐
Thanks Matt,
Brings back great memories of the photo shoot I attended with you.
Regards,
Michael
Another excellent tutorial, Matt.
