Holding true to tradition as they do each fall, ON1 just released ON1 Photo Raw 2019. This is a paid update (or free for ON1 Plus members), and packs a bunch of new features which I’ll go over in the video below. Also, if you’re purchased my ON1 Photo System, updates past ON1 2018 were not included as part of that. But, I felt like it was important to update you guys on what’s new so stay tuned to your email and I’ll be issuing a more in-depth update to the ON1 Photo System for free. Enjoy!
You sure touched on areas that other ON1 tutorials missed. Thanks
Yikes…I get a ‘free update’ to On1 2019 since I signed with you last year….
I just purchased the update….is there any solution to get my money back?
Hi. You’d have to contact ON1. Thanks.
Matt, I’m an “advanced amatuer” so my photo editing work is simply for pleasure and I’m really interested in this latest from ON1 – to the point that I would stop using Photoshop and Lightroom and use this software exclusively. Is there anything significant that I would lose in making that change?
Hi Frank. The two programs are definitely different and depending on what you primarily do in photo editing there could be hundreds of things or just a few. Feel free to shoot me a message at mattk.com/contact if you want to ask specifics, but without me really knowing what you want to do with your photos it’s hard to make a recommendation other than to try the 30-day trial and see what you think.
Thanks Matt. I’m laughing at myself a bit while realizing we are talking about making a change in my photo editing and, as you know, people don’t like change. When you’re 73 years old the idea gets even harder to swallow. It’s as if I believe that wrapping my arms around ON1 software will be detected by Adobe security and ill be banned from Photoshop! In reality there’s nothing that says I can’t use all three programs if I want and throw in a little Aurora to boot. I’m off to buy the upgrade but I wanted to stop long enough to thank you for your patience. Regards, Frank Herzog
Matt,
I am a Lightroom/Photoshop Elements user, and have been thinking about trying ON1 Photo Raw. I don’t use Elements very much, but I do use it for spot healing and clone healing (I find that Lightroom sucks at that functionality). I also use Elements because of its great selection tools when doing things like background replacement.
My question is – does ON1 have similar selection tools? And does it have good spot and clone healing tools?
Hi Wayne – it does have similar tools. They work a bit different than you’re used to in Elements. So my suggest is to download the 30 day trial and give it a whirl. You can grab it here with some free videos: on1.com/mattk
Hi Matt: I have lost the link to receive the On1 2019 update email to receive the update files for my 2018 On1 tutorials. Can you send me a link to that please. I’m a pro user
Moving edited photo’s from LR into On1, makes the move, crop and resize tools are greyed out. In my opinion that’s a missed opportunity. It looks like trying to exclude PS and LR, in a weird competition. As a long time On1 Plus member I am disappointed about it. Cooperation makes you great, not exclusion.
Thank you Matt your tutorial was really helpful in learning some of the new items in On1Raw19.
Hi Mat
I am new on iMacs and Ian going to get one pledge tell me what specs do I need for photoshop, specially ON1 Raw Thanks
Does On 1 have historical undos\edits where you can selectively go back and undo an edit from prior adjustments in the new version?
Hi Pete. You can undo infinitely. However, you can’t go back to just one history state, select it and undo just that.
So just have to click Undo unlike Lightroom which allows to select any point in your changes? Thanks Matt .
Is On1 now close to replacing PS?
Hi Matt – I have purchased the new On1 2019,quite new to this so still learning. Thought of asking is it worth subscribing to their Plus Pro membership? Thanks for all your inputs, tutorials and world of knowledge shared here.
Hi. Yes, I think if you’re an ON1 user then you definitely need to subscribe to the Plus membership. Good luck!
What does the Plus membership add? Or what is it?
Hi. Best to check out the ON1 website for more: https://www.on1.com/products/plus/
I’d say the biggest thing is community and education. Most of the non-Adobe products don’t have the volume of community and training available on the internet that PS and LR have. So if you’re going to go with one of those apps, (like ON1) this is the best way to keep up with what’s going on and get good quality education on the program you’re using.
