Well, it’s that time of year again. Every fall, ON1 updates their software with a bunch of new features and enhancements, and this year they’re releasing a beta version to let you try it out early as well.
Below is a video that recaps some of the new features in ON1 Photo Raw 2020. And if you want to try it out, you can click here to download a beta version.
If the work flow in ON1 is anything like their installation, I’ll go buy a hammer and chisel and chisel my images in stone instead of using a digital camera.
At least I’d see some progress as the days go by.
I recently loaded On1 Camera RAW with great anticipation, but after several weeks of disappointment, I sought and obtained a full refund. My plan was to shift everything from LRCC to On1 CR (as On1 claims is easily done), but it simply didn’t happen. Depending on the number of files, transferring folders and collections can literally take weeks. On1 2019 also appears to require an inordinate amount of RAM. From my experience (on MAC OS 10.14.6 Mojave), there remain so many bugs in the 2019 version, I hate to think what the beta 2020 will be like. Very disappointing.
So far, the 2020 Beta version is running smoothly on my Mac (OS Mojave, v.10.14.6). I am experiencing only one minor issue: adding/changing star ratings for RAW photos in the Edit mode works very slowly with a 30 second delay, while other tested functions work quickly. Has anyone else had this experience?
I purchased the new 2020 version of ON1 within the last two days. Somehow I was invited to experience a new Masking program and really liked the Lesson. Now, I can’t bring it up again to clearly digest the ABC techniques I needed to watch, again. Give me some way to remedy my problem. ON1 is a good program (tho’ management) has failed to make things comfortably accessible and easy to use. I have been with ON1 since they first began (records will show) and it has always been difficult to get into what few lectures there are. Please help me reconnect with the lectures I experienced earlier. Thank you!
Hi Joseph. My best suggestion would be to contact them. If you purchased something through them, then their website would be the best place to go. Good luck!
I only have 8 gig of ram on my pc and as it’s a surface pro it can’t be upgraded. 2019 is a bit slow but works. Does 2020 need more memory?
Hi Jill. Best to check ON1’s website for computer spec requirements.

Open task manager and check you resources I.e. cpu, ram, disk. Look for high % and fix those. Mine was 100% disk, so installed a SSD. Which fix my performance issue.
So far the Beta version is a train wreck.
Make sure you let them know. And by the way.. that’s why they call it a beta. By nature it is unstable software 😉
Beta testing 2020 as we speak. Been an ON1 user since I switched from LR in 2017. Love the upgrade and added features. Thanks Matt!!
