It’s Not About Techie Stuff!
“For me… It’s not about the techie stuff and what each adjustment does. Instead, it’s all about WHAT YOU DO with the those adjustments”
This course is very different from my other courses. In many of the courses I have, I teach about the “how” to accomplish a task, or “what” a certain setting does.
But in this course I open up and do something TOTALLY different. I talk about the “WHY” behind my editing.
For me… It’s not about the individual settings. Instead, it’s all about how you see the photo, what stands out to you – and what you do with those adjustments to make those things even better – that’s the most important part of editing.
How dark should you make something? How bright should you make it? Where do I add light? These are all the questions I work through with each photo. You’ll watch and hear my thoughts as I make the edits and why I’m making them.
Sample Video and Techniques
Here is a full sample video of the techinques and ideas covered in this course. It showcases some various ways to add light and depth to scene and (just as important) the thought process of the “Why” as I go along.

Should I get Volume 3… or the Bundle?
I recorded a quick 90 second video here if you’re on the fence. Or read below…
If you’re new to my “No Light?… No Problem!” series I’d suggest starting with Volume 3. If you’re thinking about the bundle here are some thoughts…
The concepts I teach in each Volume are 75% similar. However as each volume progressed, so did my editing and each one contains all different photos, genres, thoughts, concepts and ideas.
Also, I’ve found that for some people repetition is key. Seeing these concepts on more photos reinforces the techniques and potential for how you can use them in your photos.

Frequently asked questions
IS THIS COURSE (VOLUME 3) A FREE UPDATE?
No. Volume 3 is an entirely new course. It is not an update and requires a new purchase, even if you purchased a previous volume.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE IN VOLUME 1, 2 and 3?
First, you can always click here to watch a quick 3 minute video where I explain this better than I can write it.
I know I’m getting this question a lot so let me explain with a question back at you. How do you get better at photography? You practice. You go out and do the same things over and over again until they become second nature.
Getting better at photo editing is similar.
For me, this process never stops. Me showing you 7 photo editing examples in Volume 1 doesn’t cover the entire spectrum of editing possibilites. People loved it and wanted more examples so I created volume 2. People kept asking for more… so now we have Volume 3.
Repition and variety is key and that is why there are various volumes of this course. Different photos… variety… repitition.
IF I PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED VOLUME 1 AND/OR 2, DO I NEED TO BUY AGAIN?
First, see the question above. Volume 3 IS NOT part of Volume 1 or 2, and not the same course (notice the term “Volume” not “version”).
Next… I have totally updated Volume 1 and 2. And if you purchased either of them (even 5 years ago) the update (for Vol 1 or 2) is FREE.
Volume 3 is a new / different course – so it is not included in any update.
To get Volume 1 or 2 updates: Just log in to your account and the downloads and online videos have already been replaced. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CONTACT SUPPORT to get the new downloads. Every place in your account that had old downloads or old streaming videos has already been updated with new ones. Don’t over complicate this… if you can log in to your account and see a “No Light” course, it is updated so just download or stream the videos.
WHAT SKILL LEVEL IS THIS COURSE FOR?
On a scale of 1 – 10 (with 10 being advanced), I’d say this course is about a 3 or 4. This course is meant for an late beginner to intermediate user and even beyond. Some one who at least knows the basics of using Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop. You’ll have to know how to open / import your photos, and what the basic adjustments do (masking tools most. of all).
As for Photoshop, you’ll need to know the basics of Layers, Selections, Brushing and some masking. Again, about a 3-4 skill level out of 10.
But the techniques are all very simple and probably use tools you’ve used before. Heck… You probably won’t learn any new tools in this course. But you will learn a new and creative way to use them.
WHAT SOFWTARE DO I NEED?
These courses were recorded using 2022 versions of Lightroom and Photoshop as of April 2022.
If you have a newer version of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, rest assured all of the features will work the same. You may see small visual interface differences but the tools are the same today as they were in 2022.
HOW MUCH LIGHTROOM AND HOW MUCH PHOTOSHOP?
In the course I use both Lightroom Classic and Photoshop where needed. I’d say 75-80% of the work is done in Lightroom Classic (or Photoshop’s Camera Raw is the same thing).
Then sometimes I use Photoshop if I feel the image would benefit from something I can’t do in Lightroom (sky replacement, removing a distraction).
CAN I WATCH THIS ON MY IPAD OR TABLET?
Yes. If you watch the online streaming version then you can log in on your tablet’s browser and watch them. Or if you download, the videos are compatible with your tablets. However, you’ll first need to download them to your computer and then transfer to your tablet.
