Hi all. Adobe released a Lightroom update last week. I’m a little old school sometimes. I usually don’t download updates for at least a few days after, which is why I didn’t post about this sooner. I’ve been burned by Apple iOS updates on my iphone, so I’m always a little cautious now. Especially since I’m in the midst of a big project.
Anyway, I’ve downloaded the update and all is working well. It’s most a maintenance update for new lenses, cameras, bug fixes, etc…
The most interesting I found were:
- The annoying 4GB Catalog Backup warning bug is fixed. Thank you!!! 🙂
- It supports lens profiles for the Moment lenses for Apple iPhones. I shoot more and more with my iPhone and these lenses are some of the best out there.
You can read all about the new cameras and lenses that LR supports and anything else about the update over on the Adobe Lightroom Journal blog post.
To update, just launch Lightroom and go to Help > Updates. The newest one is Lightroom CC 2015.9 (don’t get me started on the 2015 naming). But yes, that is the latest one.
Have a good one!
I am one of those who is really appreciating the new update. I went to the forum to see if others were having the same problem I was; on import I was getting the message” preview unavailable for this file (NEF) , I found this thread, updated, and fingers crossed all is well.
I bought the Lightroom course just a few weeks ago but it doesn’t have the December 2016 update in it. How do I obtain that?
When do you think Adobe will get around to fixing the problem in the Slideshow module wherein the slider to balance audio between video clips and music tracks doesn’t work… Moving the slider all the way to the music for the purposes of muting the audio that might be in video clips simply does not work. This fact is well documented on a variety of forums…so is Adobe listening, and is this fix in the queue of things being address? (hopefully)
Thanks Matt! So happy that annoying 4G message is gone!
I’m looking for an update for the Panasonic GX85 lenses. Soon I hope.
Hi Matt,
I currently use LR3 and want to update. I’m not interested in Creative Cloud. Can I update to the LR6? or is there a LR7, that I should be looking at?
Hi Sandy. I believe you can still buy LR6 download from bhphoto.com
The update is nothing to get too excited over. Since moving to the new subscription model, Adobe has really done little with Lightroom (two years since any major release), and appears to have little motivation to improve the product outside of Lightroom mobile. By contrast ON1 appears to be fast-tracking their product. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see ON1 exceed Lightroom’s capabilities within the next 18-24 months.
Hey Malcolm – I don’t think it was meant to be a big “feature” update. But when new cameras and lenses are released, they have to issue an update to support them. Anyone with one of those new cameras or lenses probably really appreciates it.
